Everyday, we are faced with Fight or Flee situations of varying degrees. At times, we encounter long-term problems, such as: marriage, financial, health, relationships.
In order to solve the problem, we consult our family, friends and relatives who truly know and understand us. Sometimes we go to the doctor, advisor, counsellor, priest in order to share their knowledge and impart their insight to us.
However, no matter how many people we have consulted, it only boils down to the question, Fight or Flee?
A huge factor for people who are willing to bear the suffering and alleviate themselves from such destructive problems is the lack of acceptance. Yes, it takes time and letting go of the ego to accept the situation-- what can be changed and what can't be done.
Secondly, people always consider what others will say or do, when someone sees them. For i.e. a person who used to be rich is now having financial problems, but he won't give up his luxuries because he is more concerned of what others think when they see him. This is the ego speaking to you, and the lack of acceptance on the person's part to accept his state and live frugally.
Thirdly, the endless struggle. This futile struggle stresses out the person with the problem/s and affects all areas of his life, making him miserable. Referring to the example above, he is struggling to sustain his lifestyle when it doesn't allow him to. Let go and let the universe do everything in the right place at the right time.
Overall, everything that happens to a person-- situations and people that come into our lives meant to teach us life lessons. Obviously, with people, the learning should be reciprocated or two-way street. We can only take control what is within us. At the end of the day, it is only self-respect, self-love, and well-being that truly belongs to us as human beings.
Wealth, education, health, relationships may and will fail us, but our true selves-- one filled with self-respect, self-love and well-being that gives us dignity as beings without the ego is what we can truly give ourselves. Own it!
Pain is inevitable; suffering is optional. You only live once, life's too short be unhappy.
