The hard times has forced people to be wise in their decisions. One of which is to be austere, but after 3 months of working, I just decided to 'splurge' for myself, after years of thinking about other people first. Truth is, love yourself first, before others will accept you. It's ironic how people struggle to find approval in other people, when they cannot accept the things they cannot change in themselves first.
Decided to invite a friend to 'Divisoria Mall'. Don't ask me for directions though, because her Uncle Bong, who works for their printing press brought us there. I remember passing through Aurora Blvd., Kalentong, Old Sta. Mesa (motels side), U-Belt, Philippine Normal University (PNU), Finance Rd., and voila we are now in Divisoria!
First we stopped by Elcano Street, to drop some treats for my friend's friend (an old Chinese couple who sells wholesale sugar). The street was just tight and crowded, stores of wholesale sacks of sugar, onions, garlic, noodles. I reckon this is the best place to buy raw food ingredients if you have a restaurant. As we call it, 'bagsakan' (low prices) here.
Indeed Divisoria Mall is cheaper than 168 Mall. Obviously, you want to shop here if you are buying loads, just to compensate for all the trouble and sweat! Having P2,500 or $56, I tested myself how much I can spend, feeling quite satisfied:
20 pcs. of anklet for P40 (10 pcs per pack)
1 Medium Bubble milk tea w/extra pearls @ P50
2 sticker booklets for my 3rd grade tutees who got A's in their Geometry exam, @ P20
2 photo frames for my hs tutees who got A's in their English, Maths, and Religion Exams @ P50 ea = 2 for P100
1 alphabet dvd for my niece @ P40
1 pair Sean John maong shorts @ P180 + 2 Cargo shorts @ 500 = P650
3 printed boxer shorts @ P135 (my friend got the 3 other shorts)
2 pairs of basketball shorts (Atlanta Hawks n' Boston Celtics) @ P400
6 pcs. of Kiwi fruit @ 100
Total P1535 or $34, and a very happy shopper who would have otherwise just bought a couple of things in Greenhills leaving me feeling skinned.
You can haggle, should you decide to buy loads, depending on the price of the item (minimum wholesale price must be 6 items). Most of the store owners are Chinese, so it would be nice to speak Hokkien. Just imagine the savings! the anklet are P10 a piece in Greenhills, but get a pack here, and its only P2! My friend bought 2 queen sized cotton sheet set @ P500 ea! Even the Cargo shorts that are P350 ea or P1000 for 3 pairs in Greenhills, will only cost you P250 ea, here (haggle for discount). The prices here are really half the price of what's in Greenhills or in the malls! You can find everything here, from cellphone, food, clothes, school and office supplies, party needs, give aways, hair and home accessories, etc.
Arrived at 10am and finished @ 2pm. Returned to Annapolis at 3pm. Went home and cleaned my slippers (soaked them 2x with Domex), had a chat with our helper and went out to watch UAAP women's basketball. Went to CSMC and brought Joephet some food and water----> he was just transferred to Rm. 532 from the ICU.
