F1 Nostalgia

On September 2009, I flew to Singapore via Singapore Airlines to watch the highly anticipated F1 Singapore Grand Prix. By July, I already bought my tickets via http://www.singaporesg.gp. Also, I booked my plane ticket just a month before the event, and I got a pretty good rate of $150 return trip. From Changi Airport, I made my way to YMCA Orchard Road, via Citylink (or the subway system) for only SGD 2.50. The SGP is a blackout week, so expect high accommodation rates. I stayed at the YMCA Orchard Road, http://www.ymcaih.com.sg. My stay for 4 nights almost amounted to SGD 800 for this special event. Yet it was worth it because I was in the middle of everything—museums, shopping, food, park, attractions, electronics, and the F1 SGP too! Just exit at the Padang grounds and walk to the nearest bus stop. It will take you about 15 minutes to reach YMCA Orchard Road.

The F1 SGP is the only night and street race! Make sure you are wearing comfortable clothes and shoes (flip flops are more comfortable) because of the humidity and long walking required for the entry and exit points, based on the kind of ticket that you purchased. Oh, and don’t be late, because everything starts and finishes on time! No time to be bored because every minute is well spent. The in-between breaks, before and after race hour, the vast space provided lots of food and drink stalls around. F1 merchandise, Porsche 911 Race, attractions and concerts within the race grounds, ready to serve and entertain you.
In addition, you can follow your race idols via Kangaroo TV http://f1.kangaroo.tv. This little gadget is equipped with a television and team radio, so you can see and hear your race idols and their teams talk about strategy. Moreover, you can customized it and see the qualifying times and fastest laps! The earlier you reserve, the better, as you get special rates. I got mine for Practice 2 and the Race Day itself for 200€, deposit included.
Furthermore, the festive week is also highlighted by SALES. Watch out for the item/s you’ve been eyeing, because you can get as much as 20% discount. Aside from these, if you’d like to party after the practices, head off to the F1 Rocks Concert http://www.f1rocks.com at Fort Canning Park. Featuring local and international artists: A-Mei, Jackie Cheung, Beyonce, The Black Eyed Peas and more, it will surely energize you body and invigorate your spirit.
So little time, so much to do! Be sure to ride the Singapore Flyer http://www.singaporeflyer.com, the world’s largest observation wheel at a stunning 165m!  See the cityscape, taste the local food, and feel how magnificent this city-nation is! What are you waiting for? Zoom your way to Singapore GP and have a fantabulous time! Surely, I’m returning, but I’m eyeing for a Pit Stop tickets!
